Hi. I run Jeff's BBQ, a Texas barbecue spot in Wylie, TX. This page explains what I do with your information when you order from our website. The short version: I collect what I need to cook your food and text you when it's ready, and I do not share it with anyone for marketing.
1. What I collect
When you place an order, I collect:
- Your name.
- Your phone number.
- Your email address, if you give one. Email is optional.
- Your order details: what you ordered, any modifiers, the quantity, any notes you add, and your pickup time.
- Your IP address, the same way any website gets one when you visit.
That's it. No tracking pixels. No advertising cookies. No social media scripts. The site does not follow you around the internet.
2. Why I collect it
So I can cook your food and let you know when it's ready. That is the only reason.
3. How I use it
I use your information to:
- Send you a text message when I receive your order.
- Send you a text message when your order is ready for pickup.
- Email a receipt to you, if you gave me an email address.
- Show your order to the kitchen so they can make it.
I do not sell your information. I do not share it with third parties for marketing. I do not use it to build a profile on you. The only outside service I use is Twilio to send the text messages, and they only see your phone number and the message I send.
4. Opt-in and opt-out
When you place an order, the checkout shows a checkbox asking if you want me to text you when your order is ready. You have to check that box before I send anything. I will not text you if you do not check it.
You can stop receiving texts at any time:
- Reply STOP to any message and I will take you off the list.
- Reply HELP if you need help.
- Email me at the address below and I will remove you by hand.
Message and data rates may apply. Your carrier handles the message part. The message itself is free.
5. How long I keep your data
I keep your order on file for 90 days so the kitchen has a record in case something comes up. After 90 days, the order moves to an archived state. I keep archived orders for a longer period for tax and bookkeeping reasons. When archived orders are no longer needed, I delete them.
6. Security
I take reasonable steps to keep your information secure and to protect it from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
No system is perfectly safe. If something goes wrong, I will tell you as soon as I can.
